James Gunn

James has spent two decades across business and government building deep experience in geospatial systems, information management and service design, including stints at Beca and Christchurch City Council, and leading technical delivery for Christchurch's Emergency Operations Centre.

He's since moved into a combined account management and product design role at myWorksites, where he leads roadmap alignment with the platform's two biggest customers, Auckland Transport and NZTA: large, complex organisations where corridor management spans multiple teams and tools, so the job looks more like running workshops and building internal alignment than typical account management. He also co-led the design of Road Space Bookings, a major new capability changing how road space is scheduled, approved and tracked in real time, spending six months in co-design with NZTA, Auckland Transport and Christchurch City Council (plus contractors and traffic management crews) ahead of its pilot launch in June 2026. His specific contribution was framing the actual problem the sector needed solved (a lack of quality, real-time roadworks data that forces RCAs into overly conservative road space allocation), and finding the balance between RCA oversight and contractor flexibility that got both sides to agree it was the right one.
